Shayla is my first cousin and has always been close friends with my sister. We always had some sort of nickname for her- Shay Shay, Swayla, Tally-Wa.... And she hated all of them so I don't suggest you use them on her. ;)
We went out to the Freda mine ruins to take her senior pictures. The clouds provided some awesome light! And Shayla likes her serious expression better than smiling, so I had a ball!
Funny story: Shayla had seen Audrey's blog post from the month before, where I asked Audrey to get in the water. Shayla told me she was not going in the water, so I said Okay but will you sit on that rock? That way only her feet got wet. :)
I quite often struggle to find the words I'm looking for when directing a pose, so I sat down on the ground to show Shayla what I wanted her to do. She said "Lean to the side?" Literally the easiest description of what was in my head and I couldn't put them together!
